1. Who We Are
DU Bookings ("we", "us", "our") operates the DU Bookings platform, an online marketplace connecting customers with car detailers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. What Information We Collect
From Detailers (when signing up)
- Full name and business name
- Email address and phone number
- Suburb/area and service location
- Profile photo and business photos
- Instagram handle (optional)
- Business biography
- Working hours and availability
- Service and pricing information
- Payment model preferences
- Stripe account ID (for payouts — we do not store bank account details)
From Customers (when making a booking)
- First and last name
- Email address and phone number
- Vehicle make, model, and colour
- Service address (for mobile bookings)
- Booking notes
Automatically collected
- Booking history and transaction records
- Payment status and payout records
- Device and browser information (via standard web logs)
What we do NOT collect
- Credit card numbers or banking details — all payment information is handled directly by Stripe and never stored by us
- Government identification documents
- Sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act
3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sell it to any third party.
4. Who We Share Information With
Stripe
Payment processing is handled by Stripe Inc. When you make or receive a payment, relevant transaction information is shared with Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data: stripe.com/au/privacy
Resend
We use Resend to send transactional emails (booking confirmations, receipts, notifications). Your email address and relevant booking details are shared with Resend for this purpose.
Supabase
Our platform data is stored on Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. Data may be hosted in Australia or the EU. Supabase complies with applicable data protection laws.
Between users
When a customer makes a booking, their name, phone number, vehicle details, and address are shared with the relevant Detailer to enable the service. Detailer contact details (phone/email) may be shared with customers if the Detailer has opted in to contact visibility in their settings.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information to law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase with the following protections:
- All data transmitted is encrypted using TLS/SSL
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only
- Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe — we never store card numbers or banking details
While we take all reasonable steps to protect your information, no internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations:
- Active accounts: Retained while your account is active
- Booking records: Retained for 7 years for financial and legal compliance (Australian tax law requirements)
- Deleted accounts: Personal details removed within 30 days of account deletion request, except where retention is required by law
7. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with us or with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au

8. Anonymity
Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, we will allow you to interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym — for example, when making a general enquiry. However, to use the DU Bookings platform and receive our services, we generally need to collect your personal information. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to provide some or all of our services to you.
9. Direct Marketing
We may use your contact information to send you service-related communications such as booking confirmations, payout notifications, and platform updates. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
If you wish to opt out of any communications from us, you may contact us at help@dubookings.com. If you opt out of marketing communications, we may still contact you about your existing bookings or account.
10. Cookies
DU Bookings uses browser session storage (not cookies) to maintain your booking progress and login state. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics that collect personally identifiable information.
11. Children's Privacy
DU Bookings is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered Detailers of material changes by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect when changes were made. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Complaint handling process
When we receive a privacy complaint, we will:
- Acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it
- Investigate and respond within 60 days of receipt
- Contact you if the matter is complex and requires more time
